Step 1:
You are assigned to a committee of three teachers. Your first job is to create a list of the critical aspects of an eMINTS lesson that you feel visiting teachers should observe. Remember, you will definitely be including the active construction of knowledge, as well as activities that assess and activate students’ prior knowledge and provide for student reflection. You will present your ideas to the entire cohort and everyone will reach a compromise on the necessary “look-fors” to be included in each lesson.
1. Begin by brainstorming everything you remember about a high-quality eMINTS lesson.
*Record your ideas on the Collaborative Document. One committee member will open the document and select "make a copy" under the "file" drop down menu. Then share that document with the other members. Your committee will compile all ideas there.
2. Once you have a good list, take a look at the heading titles from the Research Part II section listed here to see if they spark any additional ideas.
3. Finally, narrow your list to the critical elements you feel should be included and why you think so. You will present this list with your reasons to the entire session. The group will compile the agreed upon "look-fors" in the collaborative document original so that everyone will have access to it during the entire challenge.
