Teachers from the visiting schools have asked to specifically see examples of how teachers in your school assess and activate students’ prior knowledge and provide for student reflection during a lesson. Your principal has asked for lessons where students are active and constructing their own knowledge—that it is not being “given” to them. Students should be discovering the ideas or concepts being taught. You must decide what other aspects of an eMINTS lesson would be critical for the visiting teachers to observe. The lessons should be short, just one to three days, so that visiting teachers can see a good portion of the lesson during their visit. Your goal is to model how eMINTS lessons can be part of your curriculum every day even when your class is not completing a long-term project. The Classroom Visit Day is coming soon so your lesson should be something you can complete with your class in the next couple of weeks.
